From Ijeoma John Nnewi
The immediate past President of Nnewi Youth Forum and Chairmanship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) Amb.Paul Muoneke and Councilorship candidate of YPP in just concluded local government polls, Hon Okonkwo Onyemaobi have applauded the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo for his commitment to make Anambra State a thriving state.
Amb. Muoneke while addressing the press said Nnewi community welcomed the development of dualization of Nwagu Agulu – Nnobi -Nnewi road.
He reaffirmed that it was a welcome development if the government would use the same energy used in demolishing people’s property to complete the road dualization project.
Speaking on Governor’s achievements, Amb Muoneke said the Governor has tried so much especially in road construction but more attention still needed in security.
“We’re not safe in Anambra State. Everybody is living in fear, even as I am talking to you ,I am meticulously vigilant but this is not suppose to be, if our lives and property are safeguarded ” he added
He called on the Solution Governor to invest more in security because according to him “security attracts investment”
Amb Muoneke showed his dissatisfaction in just concluded Local Government polls revealing that there was no election in Nnewi North yet results were released.
Hon Amaobi who spoke to our correspondent said dualization project would mark a significant milestone in Nnewi infrastructural development.
“Nnewi people should be grateful for this initiative which will boost economic growth, improve transportation, and enhance safety.
“I acknowledge the government’s efforts to address the region socio- economic importance and look forward to timely completion of this project unlike the incessant delay in Bank road this long overdue for completion, ” he said
He sympathized with those whose shops were demolished and appealed to the government to provide adequate compensation, considering the short notice given.
Regrettably, Amaobi frowned on Government failure to conduct free, fair and credible Local Government polls which according to him has eroded public trust and confidence.
Finally, they reiterated their commitment to support good governance and developmental initiatives in Nnewi and would oppose bad policies, governance and selfish elements.
