After weeks of speculation about potential military action, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they are conducting “precise strikes on military targets in Iran.”
The announcement was made via social media platform X (formerly Twitter) in the early hours of Saturday.
The IDF stated that these strikes are a response to “months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the state of Israel.”
The IDF further says Israel’s “defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilised,” in any retaliatory attack from Iran, which has been engaging in tit-for-tat.

The Iranian regime, blaming Israel for “series of high profile killings” has, alongside its proxies in the region, “been relentlessly attacking Israel since October 7th,” spokesman for the IDF, Daniel Hagari said in a statement he read out.
He said those attacks against Israel have been waged through “seven fronts, including direct attacks from Iranian soil,” the latest of which was almost a month ago.
The IDF stressed that,”Like every other sovereign country in the world, the state of Israel has the right and the duty to respond.
“Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilised. We will do whatever necessary to defend the state of Israel and the people of Israel,” Hagari says.
Loud bangs with flashes of what appeared to be strikes could be heard in Iran, which has so far downplayed the damage with state media describing the strikes as “unsuccessful.”
