In the early hours of Saturday, an explosion, believed to be caused by dynamite, rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat located along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The blast resulted in significant damage, including the destruction of the gate, doors, windows, and various properties.
This marks the second attack on the pro-Nyesom Wike’s Tony Okocha-led APC’s secretariat this year.
The incident coincided with the local government elections taking place today, with the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission confirming that all sensitive materials had been distributed to the relevant local government areas.
A viral video captured the aftermath of the explosion, showing workers assessing the damage at the site.
Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the state police command, stated that she had not received any reports regarding the explosion but assured that she would provide updates once available.
The APC has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
