Amori commends women group, urges grassroot mobilization for Tinubu, Oborevwori
Our Reporter
The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Ighoyota Amori, has commended the Nigerian Women for Tinubu, Shettima and Sheriff for 2027 for their commitment to grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, urging them to remain united and intensify efforts to communicate the achievements of both administrations to the people.
Sen. Amori gave the charge on Wednesday in Asaba when he received the leadership of the group, led by the Delta State Coordinator, Chief Mrs. Tina Brown-Kpohraror, during a courtesy visit.
Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Adviser described President Tinubu as a courageous leader implementing bold reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for long-term economic growth and national development.
He acknowledged that some of the reforms had brought temporary challenges but stressed that they were necessary to build a stronger economy.
”President Tinubu is making bold and courageous decisions for the future of Nigeria. Some of these policies may have brought temporary hardship, but they are reforms designed to lay a solid foundation for long-term economic growth and national development,” he said.»
Speaking on the removal of fuel subsidy, Amori noted that the policy was difficult but necessary, adding that the country was already beginning to witness positive outcomes through improved agricultural returns, accelerated infrastructure development and a gradual repositioning of the economy.
He also highlighted the Federal Government’s ongoing infrastructure drive, describing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a transformational project that would promote commerce, tourism and economic opportunities across the country.
The Chief Adviser said it had become necessary for government supporters to continually educate Nigerians on the achievements and reforms of both the Federal and Delta State Governments.
According to him, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s performance under the M.O.R.E Agenda had provided tangible evidence of good governance through road construction, improved healthcare, job creation and infrastructure development across the state.
Amori emphasised that the 2027 general election was a collective responsibility, calling on party faithful and support groups to work towards securing victory for all APC candidates.
He commended the organisation’s membership expansion strategy, describing women as one of the strongest and most organised forces in politics.
”Women remain one of the strongest forces in politics. They are committed, organised and result-oriented. I encourage you to remain active, united and fully engaged in the political process,” he said.»
The Chief Adviser also assured the delegation of his support, disclosing that he would engage Governor Oborevwori on the need to continue supporting the activities of the organisation.
He urged members to participate actively in forthcoming political engagements, particularly activities scheduled between August 3 and 5, the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, as preparations gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
Earlier, the Delta State Coordinator of the Nigerian Women for Tinubu, Shettima and Sheriff for 2027, Chief Mrs. Tina Brown-Kpohraror, said the organisation was established to propagate the achievements and people-oriented policies of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori while mobilising grassroots support for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
She said the group’s immediate priority was to consolidate its structures across Delta State through the training of ward and polling unit leaders who would take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda directly to communities across the state.
”Our mission is simple and clear: to propagate and promote the achievements and people-oriented policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,” she said.»
Brown-Kpohraror explained that beyond political mobilisation, the organisation would educate women on the importance of collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), locating their polling units and participating actively in the electoral process.
She noted that her previous experience coordinating women under the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Anchor Borrowers Programme and other Federal Government social intervention programmes had equipped her with the experience needed for effective grassroots mobilisation.
The Coordinator further disclosed that the organisation had concluded the establishment of its state structure and had commenced engagements with the Delta State Government to secure the logistics and operational support required to implement its statewide mobilisation programme.
She expressed confidence that with commitment, unity and strategic grassroots engagement, the organisation would successfully mobilise women across Delta State in support of President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Lakurawa terrorist group kills 4 soldiers in deadly Sokoto attack

By Mohammadu Ahmad
At least four soldiers are feared dead following an attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbe, Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on Friday.
The attackers, reportedly numbering more than 300, stormed the town on motorcycles and engaged troops in a fierce gun battle before allegedly attacking shops, vehicles and a hospital.
The heavily armed group was said to have arrived in Kebbe at about 10am, prompting soldiers deployed at a military base on the outskirts of the town to engage them.
A security expert in the state, Bashar Altine, who confirmed the incident, said four soldiers were feared to have died during the confrontation.
However, the reported casualty figure could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
The spokesman for the Sokoto State Police Command, Ahmed Rufai, also confirmed that an attack occurred but said the command was still working to establish the details.
Rufai said he could not confirm reports of casualties, including the alleged deaths of the four soldiers.
Attempts to obtain confirmation from the spokesman of the 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, were unsuccessful, as he had yet to respond to a message sent to him as of press time.
Altine said the attackers moved into the heart of Kebbe after the confrontation with the troops, particularly the Sabon Gari area, where they allegedly broke into shops and stole large quantities of mobile phones and bread.
He said the militants also attacked a military vehicle equipped with a mounted rocket-propelled grenade, damaging three tyres and breaking its windscreen.
The attackers reportedly proceeded to the General Hospital, Kebbe, where they allegedly smashed the windows of vehicles parked within the hospital premises, including the vehicle of the Divisional Police Officer and an ambulance.
“They also seized mobile phones belonging to patients at the hospital,” Altine added.
He further alleged that the terrorists took four motorcycles belonging to residents before beginning their withdrawal from the town.
According to Altine, the attackers eventually left Kebbe in the evening through the direction of the police station and proceeded towards communities west of the town.
“Reports from villages west of Kebbe indicate that they entered Ungushi town, one of the districts in Kebbe Local Government Area,” he said.
Altine said there was no confirmation that any of the attackers had been killed despite the reported gun battle with security forces.
“As of the time of writing this report, we have not seen the body of even one Lakurawa fighter that the soldiers succeeded in killing,” he said.

Joseph Ezeokafor
By Ogechi Eloka
Kidnapped Anambra businessman, Joseph Ezeokafor chairman of Jezco Group of Companies, popularly known as Jezco, has regained his freedom.
According to a social media Facebook post by Fred Chukwuelobe, versatile journalist and public affairs commentator, Ezeokafor was released near the boundary between Enugu and Anambra States, close to Ebenebe, near Awka. He was subsequently picked up late at night (Friday) by a family member.
Ezeokafor, the father of popular social media personality Jowi Zaza, was abducted in the early hours of Tuesday while on his way to a prayer ground in Awka, Anambra State.
His release came after days in captivity, during which his abductors reportedly established contact with his family and initially demanded a ransom of N700 million before allegedly raising the demand to N1.5 billion.
Details surrounding his release, including whether any ransom was paid and where he was released, were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
The development is, however, a major relief to the family, friends and associates of the businessman, whose abduction had generated widespread concern across Anambra and beyond.
Ezeokafor is the founder of Jezco Oil and Lubricants, a business he established in 1980 and subsequently expanded into other areas of manufacturing and business.
